Even if the remake never gets a PC port, you can at least play the original via emulation, with greatly improved resolution and framerate. That might be the case for any of Sony’s first-party games, but we have ample evidence that From Software’s RPGs are hugely popular. The first Dark Souls alone sold millions of copies on PC, and the series has only gotten bigger since. What makes Sony’s slip-up more perplexing is that, as recently as August 2020, the company expressed interest in more PC ports of its console exclusives. “We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform in order to promote further growth in our profitability,” Sony’s 2020 corporate report states.
Demon’s Souls News, Release Date & Guides
It was true in 2009, when developer FromSoftware released the mechanically groundbreaking role-playing game on PlayStation 3, and remains true for Bluepoint Games’ remake, released alongside Sony’s PlayStation 5 this week. Visuals and graphics may not mean much to the average player, but the developers wanted to give the gaming community a reason to revisit this timeless classic. Bluepoint Games imported most of the original combat data but rerecorded the animations and voice lines with a few of the actors returning. Players can fight massive dragons and other colossal threats standing in their way. Co-op is another returning feature from the original, which can alloow players to fight demons together or each other by invading their worlds with the Black Eye Stone.
Those monsters want human souls, and they’ve hunted the people of Boletaria, ripping their souls free to feed on them–and leaving the soulless to fall to madness and attack any who’ve survived. But developer Bluepoint’s greatest achievement is that it took something I’m intimately familiar with and made me feel like I was venturing into the unknown. The Demon’s Souls remake on PlayStation 5 is almost the exact same experience, gameplay-wise, as the 2009 PlayStation 3 original. And considering how great the original Demon’s Souls was, the Demon’s Souls remake on PS5 is an easy recommendation. Imagine one of the best and most influential games ever made, but with significantly improved graphics, and that sums up the Demon’s Souls remake perfectly.
Equipment & Magic
Managing stamina, therefore, is essential to combat as running out of it renders the player helpless and vulnerable to incoming attacks. Players expend stamina to perform actions such as attacking with weapons, blocking and parrying, dodging, and sprinting. The stamina used up for each attack depends on the type of weapon equipped, with heavier weapons requiring more stamina for each swing. The first option is to loot it off a Phosphorescent Slug past the fog will in the Swamp of Sorrow. The slug can be found lingering on an island past Selen Vinald. NK88 is to kill Selen Vinland, in human form, and loot it off her corpse.
Featuring a design that looks inspired by Pyramid Head’s sword from the Silent Hill franchise, the Meat Cleaver packs a hefty punch in its oversized blade. Belying its sword-like appearance, this weapon is classified as a Large Hammer in the game. As a result, it can only be created by imbuing a mace, war pick, or Great Club with the soul of the Adjudicator Demon boss. The Claymore is an early-to-mid-game staple in most FromSoftware games, and Demon’s Souls is no exception.
Swords may seem like a basic weapon to use in a game like Demon’s Souls, but they are tried and true. Many first-time players stick to using swords since they are easy to wield and quick to learn how to use. But beyond this, Demon’s Souls Remake changes very little from the original in the way of mechanics, only adding a few quality of life improvements here and there, without compromising the intensity of Demon’s Souls. That is to say, if those playing Demon’s Souls now for the first time have an easier experience, it won’t be by much. There are no “bonfires” near fog gates or checkpoints added, or anything of that nature. The Remake is actually closer to a Remaster than a Remake, and probably would be called one if the graphics were not completely overhauled.
Used and in fact the spirit in Demon’s Souls is everything and you have to manage it very well and be careful not to lose a lot of them suddenly. Demon’s Souls Remake combat system is at the highest possible level of balance and appeal, and is so well-tuned, tactical, and based on your accuracy and skill that you truly enjoy playing. Also, performing various activities in the game is best set on the Dual Sense controller, and you are completely comfortable with the game control. The similarities between Dark Souls games and retro titles is, I think, drastically overlooked. Most retro platformers and Metroidvanias saw you dying and replaying to learn the levels.

As I mentioned earlier, PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to have people enjoy the game experience using the latest PS. We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version,” Ryan said. Folks do love a good easter egg and it seems that Bluepoint has added one to their Demon’s Souls remake. Players quickly noticed a new, mysterious door that wasn’t in the original game.
